BUSINESS FORMS

How do you know the best business form to choose when selecting a small business entity?

In today's business world, employee handbooks are ever changing, business insurance practices are increasingly complicated, and technical regulations are extraordinarily incomprehensible to most business owners. For the recently downsized, the academic seeking to open a business or the individual with a wonderful business idea, opening a new business is an attractive opportunity. The choice you make as a prospective business owner or as an owner seeking to expand the business may make or break your operation.

Miller, Miller & Tucker P.A. has advised hundreds of business owners on critical challenges confronting business success and growth. Entrepreneurs starting a small business are confronted with a number of choices of entity to select for their new enterprise. An individual starting a one-person business can elect to either have a sole proprietorship, a corporation or a limited liability company. If there are two or more entrepreneurs, they can also choose a general partnership or a limited partnership. This article will briefly describe each of the various possible entities and, to a limited extent, the advantages and disadvantages of each selection.

Please consider calling Miller, Miller & Tucker P.A. to schedule an appointment to address your business planning needs. Please also call our offices if you would like a copy of our business brochure and a copy of our most recent issue of Small Business Agenda.
